Detectives investigating the murder of a man in Romford are appealing for witnesses.
Borough officers on routine patrol discovered Shaun McDermott, 44, of Benhurst Avenue, Elm Park, lying on the pavement outside the Havering Oak Public
House in South Street, junction with Brentwood Road, Romford, at 1.15am on Sunday February 3.
The man was taken by ambulance to Queens Hospital, Romford, with a head injury. He died the following day at around 10am.
A post-mortem examination is due to take place at Queens Hospital Mortuary this afternoon, Wednesday 6 February. An inquest will open and adjourn in due
course.
An incident room has opened up at the Homicide and Serious Crime Command under Detective Chief Inspector John Sandlin.
DCI Sandlin said: "We believe there was an altercation that resulted in the victim being assaulted outside the pub.
"We would appeal for any witnesses or anyone with information to please come forward."
A 29-year-old man was arrested last night, Tuesday 5 February, on suspicion of murder and remains in custody at an east London police station at this stage.
