THE DRIVER who was killed in a car crash on the A414, in Writtle, has been named as Matthew Parkinson.
The 37-year-old, of Melbourne Avenue, Chelmsford, was driving along the A414 Ongar Road when his silver Citroen Xsara smashed into a silver Volkswagen Caddy on February 1, and died at the scene.
Firefighters were called to assist Essex Police and ambulance teams at the scene, providing lighting to the scene and made the vehicles safe before leaving at 7:14pm.
Essex Police closed the road off until 12midnight while they carried out their investigations.
The female driver of the VW was treated for serious leg injuries and was taken to Broomfield Hospital.
