A WOMAN has died after falling from a multi-storey car park early this morning.
The victim, in her late thirties, fell from the High Chelmer car park, in Chelmsford centre, at 8.20 am today, her body landing metres from the bus station at the entrance to the car park.
Three police cars and an ambulance quickly arrived at the scene and paramedics attempted to resuscitate the woman but she died at the scene after suffering major head trauma and cardiac arrest.
Eve Chambers, 81, was shopping with her husband shortly after the incident took place.
"You don't expect something so terrible to happen first thing in the morning, it's absolutely tragic," she said.
An Essex Police spokesman said: "A woman in her late 30s has fallen from the High Chelmer car park in Chelmsford city centre this morning.
