Garden sheds, fences and cars in Colchester were attacked by vandals in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Police are subsequently trying to trace a group of three young girls to get in touch with them as they could be key witnesses to the spree in the Riverside Estate in Guildford Road.
As a police dog and its handler carried out a search of the area, the officer noticed the girls walking along Exeter Drive towards Lincoln Way.
He was unable to stop though, as his dog was attempting to track a scent.
Investigating Officer, DC Seff Manesh, said: We would like these girls to contact us as they potentially saw the culprits behind this mindless spree which has cost owners hundreds of pounds in repairs."
Two 15-year-old boys from Colchester are currently on police bail until Wednesday, June 26 after having been arrested in connection with this criminal damage spree.
The female witnesses are urged to attend Colchester police station to meet detectives or contact them on 101.
