TV comic Dom Joly has ruled out coming back to Chelmsford after a "rubbish day filming" his hidden camera TV series in the city.
The former Trigger Happy TV star has told of a miserable, rain soaked day putting together an episode of Fool Britannia.
The day's filming involved him donning a prison guard's uniform, supervising a group of "inmates" who were also free runners.
His act involved chatting to passers-by as the prisoners hopped from roof to roof behind him without a care in the world - but one in particular failed to follow the script.
"I targeted an older man, in his mid-50s," Joly wrote in his column for the Independent
"He seemed very respectable (for Chelmsford) and I started my patter. The moment my inmates started escaping, however, he held on to me while shouting "Go on, lads, good luck to ya" as my charges sprinted away along a high roof.
"He then did a disappearing act himself, leaving me to the mocking tones of the camera crew in my earpiece."
On the day of filming itself, Joly tweeted "Just leaving...Chelmsford- rubbish day filming."
And it seems people in Chelmsford might just have survive without the funnyman.
"I was determined not to insult any more towns this series but … let's put it this way, no move to Chelmsford is on the cards in the immediate future."
