A ROMFORD teenager will travel from Wales to London in a rickshaw to raise funds for Children in Need.

Jack Booth, 16, is one of six youngsters who will take part in the 411-mile Rickshaw Challenge on November 9.

Their feat was announced on BBC's The One Show last week and follows seven million viewers watching presenter Matt Baker make the same journey last year for the charity.

The team will attempt to complete the journey in eight days, arriving at the BBC for The One Show's Children in Need special on November 16.

At the age of four, Jack had a kidney transplant funded by Children in Need. Today he is fit and healthy.

He is involved with the British Transplant Games, and hopes this opportunity will show what he is capable of thanks to his transplant.

The teenagers all have one thing in common – they are, or have been, supported by Children in Need funds.

Matt Baker said: "The Rickshaw Challenge is one of the toughest I've ever taken on. These youngsters are going to have their work cut out for them.

"That's why the public needs to get behind 'Team Rickshaw' and come out and cheer them on. We need to get behind them as they strive to raise as much money as possible for BBC Children in Need."

The presenter will be cycling alongside the team, offering advice and support. When he took on the challenge in 2011, he raised an incredible £1.9 million. His One Show colleague Alex Jones will be following the team too.

The One Show will broadcast the start of the event on November 9 live from Dolgellau. Every weeknight after, the television crew will be on the road to greet the team live as they cross the checkpoints.
