REDBACKS' senior team may have had a difficult season but their U14 side have booked their spot in the National Championships after a comprehensive pair of wins at the regional finals.
The Forest Glade Redbacks side thrashed host side Herts Harriers 20-0, before a super 13-11 win over London Sports.
The game against the Harriers was eventually shortened to four innings because of the mercy rule.
James Scammell picked up the victory on the mound, throwing just 45 pitches to record the win, allowing just one hit and two walks in the process, while twin brother Matt hit an inside-the-park home run.
In their two previous encounters against London Sports, their opponents in the second game, the Redbacks had lost a very close game before winning by a slightly wider margin in the return fixture.
Thankfully for the Forest Glade youngsters, they added another victory to their record over the club from West London.
Scammell conceded only two runs in the fifth and sixth innings, and struck out the final two batters to record the 13-11 victory and take their place at the championships, which will be held at new National Baseball and Softball Grounds at Farnham Park, Slough in two weeks' time.
Crabb said: "Every one of the boys on the team contributed today.
"The offence was awesome and defence held solid, hardly any errors in two games.
"I am very proud of them all for their fighting attitude and the desire .
"Also, thanks to the coaching team who did a brilliant job and to the parents for their support."
