Southend's Rob Womack achieved the highlight of his athletics career when he won bronze in the London Paralympics on Saturday.
Womack threw a lifetime best of 11.34m to finish third in the men's shot putt for F54/55/56 category athletes.
It is Rob's first Paralympic Games, and he earned a medal by a slender margin.
He started with a 9.19m effort, but hit his stride in the second round with a throw of 11.02m.
His third round throw of 11.34m was his best effort, and good enough by just four centimetres to pip Khamis Zaqout of Palestine for bronze.
The 41-year-old fell agonisingly short of the 11.36m effort of Polish rival Karol Kozun, who took silver behind Iran's Jalil Bagheri Jeddi's 11.63m throw.
Rob, who suffered a disc prolapse in 2003 and became paraplegic, took up athletics just a year later.
He has been a GB international since 2006, when he competed at the IPC World Athletics Championships in Holland.
