Mystery still surrounds a small East Hanningfield play area after a girl had to be cut free from a baby swing.
Firefighters rushed to the playground just off The Tye, shortly after 12.15pm on Sunday to reports of a girl, thought to be no older than 10 years old, trapped in the apparatus.
She was freed by 12.39pm after the crew dismantled the swing to a chorus of ironic cheers.
No one the Chronicle spoke to near the scene yesterday (Monday, May 5) knew who she was.
Father-of-five Anthony Kirk, 34, of Ashley Green, who saw some of the event unfold from his house, said the youngster escaped unharmed.
"It's silly isn't it, but I'm sure we've all at one point tried to get in one," joked Mr Kirk.
"I can just imagine someone wearing it like a nappy then having to have it cut free.
"All I saw was a couple of fire engine crew, I didn't see them physically get her out, but we just heard as a loud cheer went up and we assumed they had cut her free and the next thing I saw was the swing cut off."
