A CHELMSFORD man has appeared in court after a pensioner was knocked to the ground and her handbag stolen in Waterhouse Lane on Wednesday.
Mark Dutnall, 32, of Arnhem Road appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court yesterday (May 8) charged with robbery.
He did not enter a plea and was detained in custody.
Police said a member of the public gave chase and detained a suspect in Meteor Way until he was arrested.
His next court date will be at Chelmsford Crown Court on May 27.
