The organizers of the Dukes Polo event at Hylands House in July are thrilled to announce that the full scale model of the world's fastest car, the Bloodhound SSC (Supersonic Car), will be on show at this year's event in July offering visitors the chance to get up close and personal with what is set to be a truly iconic slice of history.
This unique piece of British engineering will be there at the event in advance of making a world record attempt in 2015 and 2016. The current record stands at just over 735mph but with an incredible 135,000 horse power the jet and rocket powered Bloodhound SSC is set to massively eclipse that record and hopes to break the magical 1,000mph mark. Bloodhound SSC is a unique, high-technology project to design and build a car to break that 1,000mph barrier and set a new land speed record. Designed and constructed in the UK, Bloodhound SSC includes components and sponsorship from international companies and will make its record attempt in South Africa. Project organisers are determined to share this international engineering adventure with a global audience and stimulate interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics and they believe that above all, the Bloodhound SSC will inspire a future generation.
Apart from just 'seeing' this amazing car project at the Dukes Polo, visitors will also be able to build and race foam rocket cars down a 60m long track where some of them will reach speeds of up to 40mph.
Spokesperson for the event, Tracey Zetter said: "We're truly honored that the Bloodhound SSC will be with us on the day as it's a unique piece if British history in the making. What these guys and girls are looking to achieve by reaching a staggering 1,000mph will beat the current land speed record by a massive 33%. I'm just hoping that they don't start that engine up on the day as I imagine it will scare the living daylights out of our polo horses."
Set for the weekend of 12th and 13th July, this year's Duke's Polo just got that little bit bigger. Alongside the chance to see the Bloodhound SSC up close and personal, there are two days of top grade polo, family fun and a VIP enclosure fit for a King. Plus the Dukes Polo are delighted to announce that legendary soul sensations Earth, Wind and Fire Experience featuring Al McKay will be performing live on stage on Saturday 12th July. In addition there's an evening set for the Dukes Club which will feature Marbella Sessions COLIN FRANCIS while the Sunday will boast a football themed day to coincide with the FIFA World Cup final with the weekend culminating with the big game itself being shown on one of the world's biggest screens.
