A mammoth 136 Essex Chronicle readers' pictures were submitted and each of these pets can now be seen via the link above, vying for reader's votes.
With a coveted slot on the front page of the go! supplement up for grabs, at least 146,000 readers of the Gazette and sister title the Essex Chronicle will feast their eyes on the winning dog.
But as well as this money-can't-buy prize, the star pet will win a bundle of dog food and a photo shoot with one of our professional photographers.
Essex Chronicle editor Paul Dent-Jones said: "Competition looks set to be really fierce this year, with so many dogs and their proud owners battling it out for the crown.
"The galleries are now live here so whether your dog is entered or not, why not take a look and see which dog you think is worthy of the title?"
The winning dog will be presented with 10 cases of dog food, while the runner-up will receive six.
The go! supplement featuring the winning dog will be published on May 29.
