DRIVERS queuing at a McDonald's drive-thru can get a free McChicken sandwich as part of a Guinness World Record attempt to raise cash in memory of a teenage girl who died of meningitis.
Between 5 and 7pm tomorrow (May 16), staff at the Boreham services restaurant will bid for two separate records as they race to serve the most vehicles in an hour.
All proceeds will go to Meningitis Now in memory of 17-year-old Jodie Willan, from Boreham, who was killed by a form of meningitis that 97 per cent of people fully recover from.
"The story pulled on the heartstrings," said Stuart Foote, business manager at the fast-food restaurant.
"This store's own personal record is 140 cars, at my last restaurant it was 282. My operations manager wants to do 300. It's going to be eventful."
Jodie died on April 30, 2010, days after falling ill with tonsillitis. She became disorientated and was rushed to hospital where her condition deteriorated.
