The Essex Police helicopter was deployed above Chelmsford in the early hours in the hunt for missing Broomfield Hospital patient.
The patient, described as a 34-year-old Brazilian student by police, ran off from the premises this morning (May 15).
Officers have asked people in Chelmsford to keep an eye out for the missing person.
