HIGH levels of congestion are likely to hit drivers on the A12 in this evening's rush hour after a serious accident on the M11.
The incident earlier this afternoon has left the entire northbound carriageway of the motorway closed, following a multi-vehicle collision between Junctions 7 and 8 involving cars, a lorry, and a horsebox.
As a result the Highways Agency have advised motorists wishing to access Stansted airport to take the A12 through Chelmsford instead, which is likely to lead to high volumes of traffic on that road.
Current advice for those drivers travelling on the M25 anticlockwise is to consider taking the A12 to Chelmsford, then the A130 north to Braintree, and then the A120 westbound to Stansted.
