The University of Essex has opened a helpline for those affiliated with the campus after a student was found dead in Colchester.
The university has also reminded students of its 24-hour security unit on campus in the wake of the suspected murder.
The woman, believed to be a Saudi Arabian student of the university, was found collapsed with knife wounds yesterday morning (June 19) in Avon Way.
A University of Essex spokesman said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the young woman who died yesterday, and we are deeply saddened by this tragic incident.
"While we are awaiting confirmation of her identity from Essex Police, we understand the woman was one of our students from Saudi Arabia.
"The university is providing every possible assistance to the police."
The university helpline can be reached on 01206 874333 for support to those connected with the university.
The spokesman stressed that,for anyone concerned for their welfare, the university has a 24-hour security unit on campus and its students' union shuttle bus runs throughout the evenings.
