Police are hunting burglars who broke into a caravan stole a TV and then poured petrol over a number of items.
The break-in happened in Southminster when thieves smashed their way into a caravan off Scalby Road between 2.30pm Thursday, June 19 and 7am Friday, June 20.
Investigating Officer, Pc Leanne Smith, said: "This crime would have been visible to anyone who was walking past.
"People carrying widescreen TVs down the street at odd times of the evening, night or early morning are usually considered suspicious.
"We would ask people who witnessed either of these two events to talk to us, including those people who may have been offered a widescreen TV for sale in unusual circumstances in the past few days."
A forensic examination of the property was carried out.
Anyone with information in connection with this burglary is urged to contact investigating officers at Chelmsford police station on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
