A FIRE which required customers at a Chelmer Village pub to be evacuated mid-meal is "still being investigated."
The blaze which began at the Fox and Raven pub, in Barnes Mill Road on Saturday (June 21) ripped through a storage shed before spreading to a barn shelter at the adjoining restaurant, Carter and Miller steakhouse.
Nobody was injured but those visiting the pub had to exit the building, which was then closed while preliminary investigations were carried out.
A spokesman for pub owners Vintage Inns said: "The fire broke out in one of our outside barn shelters.
"Fortunately all our guests and team were evacuated from the restaurant safely and the fire brigade attended quickly to control the fire.
"There has been damage to a storage shed and a barn shelter, the cause is still being investigated. There is no damage to our trading area, so the restaurant closed that afternoon but we opened as normal in the evening."
