MORE than 150 avid readers turned out to quiz the Essex Chronicle's editor, pick up a packed goodie bag and pose for pictures with our mascot Presston the newshound.

Stationed at George Yard Shopping Centre in Braintree, Chronicle senior editor Paul Dent-Jones spent Saturday chatting to shoppers.

Readers pitched story ideas and gave the editor feedback, while passers-by were also invited to fill in a questionnaire in a bid to win tickets to the Chronicle's Food and Drink festival at Cressing Temple on July 19 and 20.

Editor Paul said: "It was a brilliant day and a great way for me to meet and chat with our loyal army of readers. Lots of people stopped by to share their story ideas, talk about local issues and give me feedback on the newspaper and our website.

"People loved our goodie bags which were packed with treats donated by local shops.

"So a big thank you must go to Tesco's stores in Market Place and Marks Farm, Braintree, and Great Notley, who gave us an endless supply of cookies, doughnuts, bananas, apples and satsumas, and Townrow department stores, Boots and Superdrug, who also gave us some goodies."
