CHELMSFORD City boss Mark Hawkes was impressed by his stellar midfield in their 5-1 win over Grays Athletic.
Hawkes started skipper Mark Hughes and Christian Smith, alongside new signings Lee Sawyer and Glen Southam.
But the Clarets manager is still looking to strengthen his squad with the Conference South season under a month away.
He said: "We have got tremendous work rate in the midfield, we have got leaders and in Glen Southam we have got someone who knows how to win the Conference South. With Lee Sawyer we have a player that has played League football and to have those bits of experience in the club is fantastic. They are a bunch of fit lads and will be ready for August 9.
We are always looking for players, even come the start of the season. If someone comes along that is better than what we have got, then that is great. That is the nature of football and it is a results orientated game. For our standard we have got a small budget but I am sure that we can compete.
