ESSEX batsman Jaik Mickleburgh has backed Alastair Cook to come good and believes he should be given the chance to see out the rest of the India series.
Mickleburgh opened the batting with Cook in the first three games of the County Championship season, in which the England captain scored 181 against Derbyshire and 127 against Surrey.
He said: "He is obviously going to get a little bit of stick because of social media today. I don't think he has ever been in this position, in whatever decision he makes just isn't going right for him.
"But he is a world-class player and he is just one score away from getting his form back. He should be given the chance to play the rest of the India series and see what happens.
"Everyone at Essex is fully behind him and am sure that he will be able to turn it around."
