Crime has increased in Chelmsford in the past year, according to figures released by the Essex Police and Crime commissioner.
Between June 2013 and May this year there were 554 more offences than during the equivalent period the previous year - a rise of 6.5 per cent.
Among the specific offences that have risen include house burglaries, up by 10.3 per cent, serious sexual crime spiking by 94.9 per cent - or 74 offences - and robbery, which has saw a rise of 16.1 per cent.
Areas that have seen a drop in offences are antisocial behaviour, with 247 fewer incidents, theft and racially aggravated crimes.
