A STAR-STUDDED guest list of pop stars and socialites travelled from across the UK on Friday to attend the launch night of Chelmsford's newest nightclub.
Dropping off the keys to their Bentleys and Hummers with a valet, guests from as far afield as Manchester and Leeds enjoyed a sushi and champagne reception at The #Club on Springfield Road, the latest addition to the city's growing nightlife.
"We want to create a venue for people from out of town to come into Chelmsford, as with new bars opening and work at the train station we can see a lot of things going for the city," said Loui Blake, who set up the club with co-owners Charlie Terry and Charles Oakley.
"It was a really great crowd at the weekend, we had quite high-profile attendance with N-Dubz' Dappy there, some of the Towie cast and sports personalities.
"I think we offer a different kind of night out and we want to push the fact that we do table service, and we are a little bit stricter on our door policy.
"We would rather build something of quality rather than just filling the place out.
"We're looking to offer a West End London experience in Chelmsford."
World-class DJs fresh from performing in Marbella and Ibiza played into the early hours of the morning, Mahiki cocktail ice-pops were served up outside and fire dancers performed at the entrance for the club's launch weekend, which owners hope will spell a new dawn for the city's nightlife scene.
The launch comes as news that owners of Ilford's Faces nightclub, well-known for its celebrity clientele, has bought up The Bar on Kings Head Walk, opposite the Odeon cinema, with plans to open a brand-new nightclub.
