A teenage boy has been arrested in connection with the rape of a girl near Wivenhoe.
Detectives made the arrest this morning (July 24), as a result of an appeal for information into the incident, which happened at about 11.30pm on Tuesday (July 22) near a footpath between Alresford and Wivenhoe.
The boy, who lives locally, was arrested on suspicion of rape.
He is currently being interviewed by detectives from the Essex Police Sexual Offences Investigation Team.
