Essex Police are hoping that a suspected burglar's "fashion faux pas" will lead to him being recognised from this image.
"Does this man usually wear sandals with light coloured socks?" they ask, disbelievingly.
Although his face is covered, the man, thought to be responsible for a break-in at Nandos, London Road, Southend, may be recognisable by his lack of style, they hope.
The restaurant was broken into around 6am on September 9 and this still is from CCTV which captured him shortly afterwards, making his sartorially inelegant getaway.
Anyone with information is asked to contact officers at Southend police station on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
