ALTHOUGH nine yellow cards and two red cards were shown in this match it was certainly by no means a dirty game.
For Swifts this comprehensive victory over the bottom club who are without a league win this season, sees them maintain their second position in the league right on the heels of local rivals Maldon & Tiptree, who are five points clear and with two games in hand.
Surprisingly it took Swifts a while to get into their stride and Ware had their fair share of play.
Unfortunately an over-officious referee set the tone of the afternoon when early on booking two players from each side for what appeared little or no offence.
Swifts opened the scoring in the 32nd minute when Michael Cheek picked up the ball on the left hand side of the box and drove it into the home net.
Swifts went further ahead right on half-time when Ben Newson received the ball out wide and cut inside the box to score.
The referee clearly trying to be the star of the show took his tally to six bookings with Taylor Hastings, Cheek and Newson joining three Ware players in his notebook all before half-time.
Swifts added a third goal on 51 minutes created with a great ball from Newson that found Solomon Ofori who calmly finished with a good goal.
Luke Callander extended the lead in the 58th minute when the ball fell loose from a scramble and he netted from an acute angle for his 16th goal of the season.
Tom Holdstock became the fifth different Swifts scorer on 81 minutes when neatly placing the ball past keeper Rhys Madden.
The referee then booked another Ware player for a poor challenge and then in the dying moments sent two of the home side's players off.
Crucially for Swifts they kept their discipline and ran out comfortable winners with another three points in the bag.
This Saturday Swifts entertain Chatham Town in the league.
