A 19-YEAR-OLD university student and good friend of a teenager who died from complications associated with his diabetes has had her head shaved for Diabetes UK and a charity that provides wigs.
Jo Pickard, who lives in Hutton, when not studying at university in Brighton, has raised more than £1,000 in memory of Lewis Fraser, who died suddenly of diabetes complications in April 2010.
She had almost a foot of hair cut off on November 8 – Lewis's birthday – in aid of Diabetes UK and Wigs for Kids.
Wigs for Kids provides hair replacement for children who have lost their hair due to chemotherapy, radiotherapy, alopecia, trichotillomania, burns or other medical issues.
