SUPERBIKE star Danny Buchan is revelling in his "enjoyable" year after clinching the 2014 Pirelli National Superstock 1000 Championship at the weekend.
The Burnham rider claimed the title in some style as he won the penultimate race of the season at Silverstone, putting him an unassailable 33 points ahead of Jason O'Halloran.
And the 21-year-old paid tribute to all the hard work that he and his team have put in over the year to secure top spot.
He said: "To be fair, I have enjoyed the whole season. A lot of people have asked me if I am relieved to have won the championship, but it's not a relief because I have enjoyed it since the start.
"It would be a relief if you were caught up in the stress of it all but I have not been stressed once.
"My team have handed me a competitive bike all year and, although it hasn't been easy, it has been a nice year.
"It was great to bring it home at Silverstone as I lost it in 2011 there, so to win it at Silverstone is a bit of a comeback.
"But it is really nice for everyone that has put in all the effort this year.
"It is nice to repay them back with the Championship.
"It is such a long season as the work really starts in January.
"I start training and the team start testing and so it is a long year, but to get that championship makes everything worthwhile."
Buchan had the chance to win the title back in September round at Donington Park, but crashed out early in the race.
But the speedster was quick to realise that he had made a mistake that day and was delighted to get the chance to put it right again.
He added: "Donington was just all wrong as my mind-set was just all wrong.
"I went there looking to win and we had the pace to that weekend but I just got it wrong.
"I didn't have to do what I did, which was go out too strong too soon, and the consequence of that was crashing out. I should have just relaxed for the opening couple of laps and taken my time.
"But I learnt from my mistake, went into Silverstone a little bit more relaxed and saying to myself that if I get it done here then it will happen.
"Luckily the pace was so good at Silverstone from the start and I just put in some consistent laps. Once I got the gap to three seconds I just kept it at that and brought it home."
