A MAN has appeared in court charged with carrying a machete around the streets of Chelmsford.
Patrick Gettins, 22, of Larkfield, Aylesford, in Kent, appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court on October 1 charged with possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, and the possession of cannabis in the same incident.
It is alleged that on June 27, Mr Gettins was carrying a machete in Kings Road, in Melbourne.
He will now appear at Chelmsford Crown Court on December 22.
In the same incident it is alleged Shane O'Conner, 19, of Springfield Road, in Chelmsford, was carrying a baseball bat on the same street.
Mr O'Conner was unable to attend the hearing on October 1, but is due to appear at the court via video link on October 27.
