A WITHAM man has been arrested after a pensioner was run over whilst on a zebra crossing.
The 31-year-old was arrested after a serious collision in Southend where a 72-year-old woman was struck while crossing Sutton Road at the junction with the A1159 Eastern Avenue on Friday at around 2.15pm.
The man was arrested at 7.15pm on Saturday, November 8, at a house in Witham, on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.
He has been released on police bail pending further enquiries until January 10.
The woman remains in a serious condition in hospital.
