THE Only Way Is Essex star Ricky Rayment will be turning on the Christmas lights in Ongar next month.

The 22-year-old celebrity will be arriving in the town by steam train before flicking the switch to light up the High Street at 7pm on Friday, December 7.

Father Christmas will also be in attendance.

Ricky told the Gazette: "I'm really looking forward to switching on the lights in Ongar.

"Being a local lad, it was a great pleasure to be asked."

The Christmas lights display, which is organised by Ongar Town Forum, was last year switched on by Ricky's TOWIE co-star Gemma Collins.

Those who attend this year will be able to arrive in Ongar on a steam train from North Weald, thanks to the Epping Ongar Railway.

Trains will depart from North Weald at 5.05pm, 6pm and 7.55pm and will head back there from Ongar at 5.30pm, 7.30pm and 8.20pm.

Discounted return fares of £3 per person will be available on the evening.

There will also be stalls in St Martin's Church Rooms, Castle Street, and shops will open late.
