The A120 has been closed in both directions between Colchester and Coggeshall following a serious injury multiple road traffic collision.
Police and other emergency services are currently at the scene close to Little Tey.
It comes on the same morning motorists on the M25 have been warned to expect serious disruption all morning as a result of a multi-vehicle collision.
Motorists are advised to avoid the A120 if at all possible.
