ALMOST £3,000 was raised for Cancer Research UK at a charity Christmas lunch.
More than 100 people attended the luncheon, organised by Brentwood and Shenfield Friends of Cancer Research UK, at Shenfield Parish Hall, in Hutton Road, on November 22.
Now in its 12th year, the event raised £2,781.
The branch has been fundraising now for over 35 years.
Chairman Jeanne Ward-Bevan said: "Thank you to everyone who came along to the luncheon to show their support.
"Also huge thanks go to the volunteers who worked so hard in the weeks leading up to the event and on the day itself.
"They give up many hours of their free time and we are really grateful to each and every one of them."
There was also a grand raffle and a £1,000 cheque presentation to the group from local fundraiser Jean Ashdown-Coates.
Darren Couchman, Cancer Research UK's area volunteer manager, said: "It's fantastic to have the continued support of the local fundraising group.
"They have been supporting us for many years now and they are the face of the charity in their community.
"They work really hard and their dedication and commitment to the cause is outstanding."
