A partially sighted man was left with two black eyes after being knocked to the ground during a late night assault in a car park in Hatfield Peverel.
The 32-year-old victim was walking through the car park behind the shops and doctors surgery in Hadfelda Square at 11.05pm last Friday (December 19) when he was approached by two men.
He thought they were going to hurt him so he used one hand to push one of them away.
It was then he was hit in the face, which caused him to fall to the floor and his glasses to fall off. The suspects, described as white men in their late 20s, of medium build and around 5ft 8ins tall, then left the scene.
Investigating officer Pc Danielle Twaites said: "The victim lost his glasses and suffered two black eyes as a result of the incident. I would ask for anyone with any information about the assault or if they witnessed it to contact me.
