CHELMSFORD City have confirmed that Lee Sawyer has penned a new deal that will keep the talented midfielder at the club until the end of next season.
Sawyer, who has excelled in the centre of midfield for the Clarets this season, joined from Vanarama Conference South side Sutton United last summer.
The former Chelsea youngster, who was named on the substitutes' bench under Jose Mourinho during the Portuguese's first spell as Blues' boss, initially joined on a three month loan but, following the transfer of City's Glen Southam in the opposite direction, the deal was made permanent towards the end of last year.
With five goals to his name, including three penalties, in 32 matches, the midfielder has proved a hit on the City terraces and has received five man of the match' awards, settling in alongside skipper Mark Hughes admirably and playing a key role in many of City's recent victories.
