THE co-owner of a new hair salon has vowed to bring "London edginess" to Brentwood following a star-studded launch party.
Nina Elley, 29, believes Hairy Nina Salon, in St Thomas Road, will bring to the town an "urban edge" that was previously lacking.
Miss Elley, who has been in the hairdressing industry for around 15 years, said: "I am trying to bring London edginess to Brentwood.
"People here think that they are edgy but they are not."
There might be skull motifs on the wallpaper but that doesn't mean the salon is aimed at one particular type of customer.
"No one is too old and no one is too young," said Miss Elley, who lives near Shenfield Common.
"When you come in here the staff will make you feel welcome.
"The customer is going to have fun and they are going to get a wicked haircut."
Co-owner Stephanie Harris, 34, of The Chase, Brentwood, added: "You can have a cappuccino, an espresso, a latte – whatever you want.
"You can also have an iPad mini so you can surf the net in style while you get your hair cut."
Miss Elley, who formerly worked for celebrity hairdresser Lee Stafford, first had the idea of opening her own salon back in the spring.
Then following a conversation with Mrs Harris and her husband Steven, both family friends, she decided to take the plunge and search for some business premises.
Mrs Harris said: "We would only invest in something that we believe in and we know Nina will be successful.
"It was a no-brainer really."
Hairy Nina Salon is open from 9am until 6pm on Tuesdays and Saturdays, from 9am until 7pm on Wednesdays and Fridays and from 9am until 8pm on Thursdays.
