BRENTWOOD Fire U13s won a convincing 125-32 victory over the Southend Swifts to maintain their unbeaten record this season.
The first quarter opened to a slow start by both teams, but the Swifts opened the scoring at the free-throw line.
Fire started motoring, building up a 10-4 lead, but also getting themselves into trouble as they used all their team fouls.
Most of Swifts' baskets in the period came from the free-throw line as the Fire's defence was tight and offence quick, taking the first quarter 30-12.
In the second quarter, the Swifts found Fire's defence uncontrollable. The score at the end of the period was 60-21.
In the third quarter, Fire started strongly with a quick six points. The Swifts tried to return but were greeted by a harsh rejection from Sam Rowell. Defensively Titus Bielskis, Pierce Maslen and Ben Holland made multiple steals. Fire's offence was fast and furious, with Rowell making another monstrous rejection at the end of the quarter.
Fire continued the disciplined defence and creative offence that they had demonstrated throughout the whole game to run out easy winners.
