This is the image of a man police  want to speak to in connection with an incident investigating criminal damage and anti-social behaviour on board a train at Wickford rail station.

PC Kevin Cornell, investigating officer with British Transport Police, said the incident took place on the 4am Southend Victoria to Liverpool Street service on Saturday November 24.

He said: "When the train arrived at Wickford, a man attempted to leave the train but the doors had already closed.

"He then tried to force open the doors, unsuccessfully, before pulling the emergency cord, causing a delay to the service."

"The man then stood on a seat and removed an overhead lighting tube and hit his friend with it, smashing the glass, before throwing it across the carriage.

"The man's behaviour was incredibly irresponsible and he could have caused himself, or other passengers, serious injury."

Police have conducted several lines of enquiry and have identified a man they would like to speak to after reviewing CCTV on board the train.

PC Cornell added: "I'm certain someone will know the man pictured in the image - if you do, or know his whereabouts, then please get in touch."

Anyone with information should contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40.
