Snow that has continued to spread across Essex is making driving increasingly treacherous for the smattering of drivers willing to risk the icy conditions.
Roads around Chelmsford and Brentwood were becoming increasingly snowed under as gritters struggle to cope with the steady snow flurries, expected to last into Monday morning.
Among the casualties was a driver whose car crashed on the A12 between junction 18 for Chelmsford and junction 17 for Great Baddow.
Essex Police warned motorists to ensure their cars were ready for poor driving conditions and take a fully-charged mobile phone on any journey.
Parents are being advised to check with their children's school to see if closures are in place Monday morning.
Train services are currently running, although a small number of services may be cancelled during peak morning travel.
A Greater Anglia spokesman said: "We plan to run trains on all our routes and on the majority of lines, we will aim to provide a full timetabled service throughout the day.
"It may be necessary for some of our trains to run at slightly reduced speeds in severe weather. In the event of the need for trains to run at a slower speed, we propose to cancel a small number of services during the morning peak period."
Football fixtures between Chelmsford and Hornchurch, Havant and Waterlooville and Billericay were called off due to the weather.
Weather forecasters say that Monday daytime temperatures will climb slightly, but snow could return again by Monday evening.
Midweek temperatures will again struggle to rise above freezing with a chance of more snow by Wednesday evening.
