AROUND 8cm of snow fell in parts of Essex overnight, but schools are open and the roads are clear.
Despite widespread chaos during last month's snowfall,
this time around the county's main roads are relatively clear, and schools are open.
There are no reported school closures, although Highwood Primary School near Chelmsford and Notley Green Primary School near Braintree are opening slighter later than usual.
Motorists are still advised to exercise caution, especially in the rural and residential areas where many roads are ungritted.
Patchy snow is set to continue throughout the day, and temperatures are expected to plummet overnight.
