TALENTED pupils at Brentwood School have picked up a prestigious design award prize in London after inventing a glove that could save the lives of cyclists.
The six GSCE design students won a Virtual Ventura award at the Design Museum on Wednesday having created Go Glove from a basic gardening glove dressed with a string of LEDs.
The Year 10 team, made up of Phillippa Hampson, Matt Charlesworth, Nyle Amin, Ben Rowley, Sidtharth Sureshkumar and Joshua Kanaganayagam, beat off around 300 competitors from across the globe.
Lights are activated when the forefinger and thumb are touched together, a circuit is completed which sets the LEDs alight.
Headmaster at Brentwood School, Ian Davies, said: "The team and staff are delighted with the outcome and we look forward to taking part in next year's competition."

Design and Technology teacher Mr Harvey said: "The pupils have done amazingly well, all their hard work has paid off. It is great to see their interest in business, science, textiles, electronics and most importantly design tie together to create such a unique and innovative product!"
The prototype was made from a £3 pair of garden gloves and Christmas tree lights connected to a standard AA battery.
