Braintree midfielder Kenny Davis' fitness will be assessed before the game against Southport.

Davis suffered a knee injury towards the end of last weekend's match against Hereford and missed the 4-1 defeat to Forest Green in midweek.

Winger Luke Daley could retain his place in the Iron's starting XI after scoring their only goal in the Rovers game.

Loan striker signing Dan Walker will be pushing for a start after being relegated to the bench against Forest Green, while midfielder Nicky Symons is another option for manager Alan Devonshire if he chooses to freshen up his side after two consecutive defeats.

Goalkeeper Danny Naisbitt will compete with Nathan McDonald for a starting spot if he passes a fitness test on a recent knock.

Southport defender Simon Grand will face a late check on a back strain.

Grand was forced off at half-time during the 5-2 thrashing of Barrow in midweek and remains a doubt.

Fellow defender Luke Willis could come into the starting XI after proving his fitness after a hamstring strain. Willis came on at half-time in the Barrow game and notched one of Southport's five goals in that match.

Defender Chris Lever has been sidelined for a couple of weeks with a knee injury and he could again miss out while defender Steve Akrigg is a long-term absentee with a shoulder injury.

Southport have only lost once in their last eight league games and are currently residing in the relative comfort of mid-table.
