THERE'S no stopping Chelmsford Chieftains as they continued their unbeaten start to the season with commanding displays in their two weekend games.
First on Saturday, Slough NIHL Jets arrived at the Riverside Ice Rink with just eleven outskaters and it was clear from the outset that it was only going to be one-way traffic and the Chieftains routinely dispatched the Jets back to Berkshire with six goals per period scored.
Slough scored a consolation goal in the third period which was roundly cheered by the home fans in good humour.
Youngster Cameron Bartlett took home the man of the match award after another fine display in a season where both he and his twin brother Grant are coming of age.
Onto Sunday and it was a much tougher test in Buckinghamshire where the hosts made the visitors work hard for their 3-2 win for the full 60 minutes of the game against MK Thunder.
Julius Sinkovic scored in the first period with a neat goal and the first session ended 1-1.
The second saw three goals scored with two going to the visitors through the returning Danny Hammond and former Milton Keynes hero and now Chieftains' player-coach Gary Clarke.
The home side had actually taken the lead through Mike Whillock, following up on Tom Mboya's goal in the first period, but Hammond and then Clarke put the visitors ahead and that's how it stayed.
Back in Chelmsford on Sunday and easy work was made of the Cardiff Satans by the second team the Warriors.
Hat-tricks for Lee Hounslow and Stevie Woodford and single goals from Courtney Grant and James Parfitt gave the Warriors a convincing 8-2 win over a disappointing Welsh side.
Rory Garrett again impressed on defence for the home side and is really staking a claim for a position on the Chieftains' roster.
