Seventh Heaven For Chelmsford Braves

Chelmsford U14 7-1 Cardiff U14

Chelmsford's Under 14 team remained unbeated as they moved up to 2nd in the league after a win against Cardiff. 

Chelmsford started slowly and went behind to a goal scored from close in by #8 R. Fearnley This seemed to wake the Chelmsford players up, as they started to press the Cardiff goal in searchof the equalizer. This came at 13min46 when #47 Josh Irby, playing his first game for the under 14s,scored from close in. Almost before the enthusiastic crowd of parents had settled Chelmsford tookthe lead at 14:18 the goal being scored by #20 Rory Kerr

Chelmsford continued to pepper the Cardiff goal and deservedly scored a third through #2 SamJackson at 18:41 The score remained at 3-1 at the end of the first 20 minutes.

After the break Chelmsford continued to play some good hockey, forcing the Cardiff goal minderinto action numerous times before extending the lead at 22:46 when #22 Ben Solder netted. TheChelmsford defence remained firm restricting the Cardiff offence to scrappy half chances. Further goals were scored for Chelmsford by #6 Brandon Webster at 23:32, #5 Ross Cowan at 24:43 thescoring was rounded off at 27:53 by #2 Sam Jackson.

Tempers flared before the end of the game with Harvey George for Chelmsford and Eliot Randall forCardiff each receiving 2 minutes for roughing.

The final score was Chelmsford Braves 7 Cardiff Devils 1.

Spirit of the game was awarded to #3 Jacob Charles, with man of the match going to #22 Ben Solder.

Over the 40 minutes Chelmsford outshot their visitors from Wales by 33 shots to 9.

The Braves team remain unbeaten in the league this season after 4 games currently lying in 2 ndplace.
