Two patients at mental health unit missing from Benfleet "could be anywhere in the country"

TWO patients from a mental health unit in Benfleet have gone missing. Police in Essex are searching for the pair who failed to return to a mental health unit in Benfleet on April 30. Authorities are concerned for the man and woman as they do not have their medication with them, which will have a detrimental effect on their mental health. Paola Akosa is 39 year old woman described as black, large build, 5ft 10ins tall with shoulder length curly hair. She was last seen wearing a white top, blue jeans and white sandals. She has several ear and nose piercings and is usually uses a lot of make up. She is believed to have gone missing with Derek Jarrett, aged 56, described as white, 5ft 6ins tall with grey hair and blue eyes and wears glasses. When last seen he was wearing track suit bottoms, black shoes, and carrying a brown shoulder bag. He has several tattoos on his arms including a rose, dagger, snake and eagle's head and he also wears a diabetic bracelet. Police have alerted other forces including the Metropolitan Police and Kent as there is some suggestions that they may travel to these areas, but they could be anywhere in the country. Anyone who sees either of the two missing people should not approach them but contact police on 101 immediately.
