Witham Town chairman Tony Last was delighted after seeing the club reach the Ryman Premier League for the first time ever. Having only been promoted back to Division One North in 2012, Town are now planning for a campaign in the third tier of non-league football. They beat Harlow Town 3-0 in Sunday's play-off final, and Last hailed the team for their efforts. "It's absolutely superb," he said. "It's put Witham on the map. "It's the first time ever, I'm a bit numb to be honest. "I've had my cousin over from San Francisco, it's his first ever football match and he thought it was absolutely brilliant, even the swearing." Witham's promotion was all the more remarkable as it came just eight days after they missed out on the title with a 1-1 draw at Cheshunt. Manager Garry Kimble left the field in tears that day, but he managed to pick his squad up to beat Needham Market and then Harlow in the play-offs. And Last praised Kimble for that. "That's all down to our manager and his management team," Last added. "He got them all up, they had a night out on Thursday night at the Indian in Chelmsford, they relaxed, a bit of team building and you can see they're a terrific team. "Garry can have whatever team he wants. I hope he's going to keep the nucleus of this side because they're worth keeping – they've battled their socks off for this chance and hopefully he's not going to get rid of too many and I expect he'll want to strengthen. Whatever he wants to do, we will back him. "Our manager cried last Saturday and he's crying today but it's tears of joy."
