A MAN received 'potentially life-changing' injuries last night on the A414 after a three-vehicle collision.
The incident, which happened at around 6.45pm on the westbound carriageway of the A-road by the Fox and Goose pub at the junction of Wyse's Road near the rural area of Cooksmill Green close to Writtle, involved a red Peugeot 206, a black Peugeot 206 and a blue Ford Fiesta.
Two people received injuries – a man, who is believed to be in his 40s, had to be cut from his car and sustained 'potentially life-changing' head and facial injuries and was flown to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge, according to the East of England Ambulance Service.
Another person was taken to Broomfield Hospital with minor airbag burns. The third person involved in the collision did not require any treatment.
Police shut the road between Wyse's Road and The Causeway roundabout while investigation work and recovery took place.
Two fire engines from Chelmsford attended, while the East of England Ambulance Service sent two ambulances along with the Herts Air Ambulance and a volunteer doctor.
An Essex Police spokeswoman said the road was re-opened at 11pm.
