A TEENAGER has been charged after a car was found in a river near Little Baddow yesterday morning.
Police officers and fire crews were called after a car was spotted in the River Chelmer off Church Road at the junction with Hammonds Road, between Little Baddow and Boreham,at around 10.40am on May 15.
The registered owner of the Citroen car was contacted and confirmed that the car had been taken without her consent.
Fire crews searched in the water and found that no one was in the car and police later made an arrest.
A 17-year-old male youth has today been charged with aggravated vehicle taking and vehicle damage, as well as using a vehicle without insurance or licence.
The youth from Chelmsford cannot be named for legal reasons and has been bailed to appear at Chelmsford Youth Court on June 6.
