Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs has been names Essex's favourite fairytale in a recent survey.
We all remember the cackling queen in this fairytale, who has been named the scariest fairytale character according to research by tuition providers Explore Learning,
She was closely followed by the big bad wolf from Little Red Riding Hood, and the witch from Hansel and Gretel.
However more recently fairytales have seen less scary villains, with the survey revealing that more than two thirds of parents believe that today's tales are "too sanitised" for children.
The survey also found that a staggering 67 per cent of parents in Essex do not read to their children every night, so it is time to rejuvenate our minds with castles and kings, monsters and mermaids.
