AFTER the most successful season in Braintree Town history, chairman Lee Harding admitted that they must now look to the future.
The Iron finished sixth in the Conference Premier, just three points off what would have been an outstanding playoff-place.
And with Alan Devonshire agreeing a new contract to stay at the Amlin next season, and a new stadium on the horizon, Harding sees a bright future for the club.
He said: "Alan has done remarkably well in taking over someone else's squad and secure top-half finishes. With his contract extension he wants to stay with us and see us through to the relocation of a new stadium, which is the next target. The Amlin is fine for Conference football, but if we are to think about moving into the Football League then it is something that has to be resolved.
"We are always pleased to hit the 50-point mark, just to secure our survival for the next season," he added. "To be three points away from the playoffs was a tremendous result. There are always those that look down their nose at clubs that aren't one of the so-called 'bigger clubs', but it's not something I lose sleep over.
"I love it when people underestimate Braintree, because then we go and beat them"
